Hello!
My name is Ava, I'm 20, and an artist based in Portland.
Ever since I could hold a pen I just wanted to draw, and draw some more.
I attended Waldorf school, a curriculum that values daily practice in the visual arts, and I am grateful to have been able make so much art throughout school.
I became excited about sharing a message that is personally important to me, through my art, after my Studio Art class facilitated this in high school.
Since then I have continued to build a collection of works sharing how I am unlearning the insidious, direct and indirect, cues to objectify and critique the body. I understand now that my personality is a lot more interesting than my body shape, or where fat exists or does not exist. I believe this for everyone. Oh... and when I stop thinking about my body, I can appreciate life much more! I think it's like putting on glasses for the first time when you didn't even know you needed them.
With the plan to continue to share works of art that empower us to exist in our bodies with comfort and ease, I am excited to build new collections of art for gifts and decor.
